USF Tampa

USF Tampa (University of South Florida) has a goal.  It is ,"To provide students with a residential community that contributes to learning, personal development, and citizenship. This is achieved by offering innovative programs and quality services in a safe living environment."

Be a part of one of America's greatest research institutions, the 9th largest university in the nation, with a total of over 45,000 students attending. Not to mention, the University of South Florida in Tampa has about 7,600 members of faculty and staff covering four campuses.

USF in Tampa offers over 219 degree programs.  These include graduate and undergraduate programs and programs at the specialty and doctoral levels.

Social Activities

Becoming a student at the University of South Florida in Tampa is a great thing to consider. There are a list of activities, including 350 student organizations, 24 sororities and fraternities and athletics that you may want to get involved in.

Tampa is a wonderful place to live with the fabulous Tampa beaches, Busch Gardens Tampa and Channelside.  

One other thing to note is that when you are planning that Spring Break trip you can just tale a short ride to the Cruise Terminals at the Port of Tampa and embark on a stress relieving cruise to the beautiful Carribean islands.

Volunteering

You can say that the heart of USF in Tampa, is the love the students and faculty has for it's community, volunteering about 600,000 hours of community service, annually.

They are well known for their volunteer work along with their high research practices. The University of South Florida was awarded more then $300 million in research contracts, recently.

They were also awarded with $468,878 for the College of Education for Innovative Reading Research Program.

The USF also offers a distant learning program. There are over 60,000 enrollments in 1,200 distant learning courses. The courses are offered on the World Wide Web.

They also communicate via ITV which includes two-way audio and one-way video. They offer what you call a telecourse through the Education Channel. They sell DVD's and VHS tapes covering courses.

Videoconferencing is another way to communicate with your teacher or any other member of the community.

Football

Are you passionate about college football?

The USF football program has won every single home opener in the history of it's team. They own the biggest stadium seating 65,657 people, in the Big East.

Not to mention some of USF's finest have made it to the NFL.  DeJuan Green is now a Running Back for the oakland Raiders. Kawika Mitchell is now a linebacker for the New York Giants.

Stephen Nicholas is a linebacker for the Atlanta Falcons and Andre Hall is currently a running back for the Denver Broncos.  These are just some of the players that have made it to the next level from USF.

Admission

The average median SAT score for incoming students is 1070, while the average high school GPA is 3.5.

In order to be considered for early enrollment at the University of South Florida, you must have a minimum 3.5 GPA in high school.  In addition to your application and $30, non-refundable, application fee, you must also provide your high school transcript and SAT/ACT scores.
