St Pete Beach is situated on a barrier island off the coast
of Florida close to the mainland of Pinellas County. Tourists make a
beeline for this famous beach for its pristine waters and clean, sandy
beaches.
This resort destination attracts thousands of local
and international tourists especially during the winter seasons that
stretches from December to April.
The beach boasts white
powdery sand that’s one of the major attractions of this travel spot.
If you’re not early on the take, you won’t be able to find a good spot
to put your stuff down.
The teeming crowd will probably occupy
much of the available beach by 10.00am. So if you want to spread your
mat or towel on the sand, you’d better get there as early as you can.
Getting in the Water
The
water is warm from the currents of the Gulf of Mexico and fairly
shallow. In fact, you can proceed to wade as far as 50 feet from the
shore without any fear of the water getting higher than your thighs.
This is great particularly for families with young children who won’t
be overwhelmed by choppy waves or sudden dips in the sea bed.
The
waters are home to stingrays so you may want to continuously shuffle
your feet when you’re enjoying the water. This prevents you from
accidentally tripping on a stingray.
When a stingray gets
agitated, it’ll shoot a barb into your leg. Although it’s not
poisonous, the whole episode of dealing with the pain and discomfort
would ruin your vacation.
Water Sports in the Sea
What
better way to expend all that boundless energy on a vacation than to
enjoy water sports in St Pete Beach. For thrill seekers, just try para
sailing and watch the sea and people below from high above.
You
can even glide across the waves on a wave runner that will give you the
exhilarating experience of literally bounding on water. So check out the
Tampa jet ski rental locations. For the more
adventurous, you might want to charter a boat and go fishing in the
deep sea.
Seeing Dolphins
If you’re thinking of
catching a glimpse of a dolphin then go on a
Tampa Bay dinner cruise or sightseeing cruise to see dolphins. As
you go by Pass-a-Grille on your cruise, you’ll notice the dolphins
playing in the water. This is a real treat and one experience that will
be entertaining for the children as well.
Try to do some
snorkeling as well if you’re up to it. You’ll be amazed what marine
life you’ll be able to catch sight of underwater. It’s a whole
different world just under the surface of the sea!
St Pete Beach
has very friendly locals who are mostly pretty laid back and easy
going. You’ll quickly make a friend or two if you aspire to get to know
the local populace.
Always ask the townspeople for the best
restaurants or hotels for your budget. You’re sure to get an honest
answer. And you’ll have fond memories of the beach once you head home
from your exciting trip to this wonderful destination!
