Caladesi Island State
Park boasts one of the best
beaches in Florida. This Florida State park is situated on Caladesi
Island which is not far from Honeymoon Island. The body of water
between the two islands is called Hurricane Pass.
You can
reach the island by boat or ferry from Honeymoon Island. There are
numerous activities that will keep you interested in the park, namely
hiking, camping, boating and fishing.
Going Hiking
If
you’re an avid outdoors person, then this park is the perfect place for
you to go hiking. The hiking trail allows you to take in the natural
wonders of this picturesque island.
You can explore some of the most
beautiful areas on the park just by walking and watching. As the
terrain can be uneven and wet, you must have the ability to traverse
this sort of topography for at least 2.5 miles along the hiking trail.
It
can get sandy in many areas so make sure you have the right clothes to
withstand this. The nature trail can be enjoyed independently, with a
companion or as a group.
You’re likely to catch sight of a gopher
tortoise or see an Osprey. You should only admire any wildlife from a
distance as shooting or hunting wildlife is not permitted on the park.
Camping and Boating
Caladesi
Island State Park has excellent facilities for camping anytime of the
year. Get your camping gear ready and head off for several nights under
the stars in serene surroundings.
You can while the time away
just gazing at the stars at night and listening to the myriad sounds
that nightlife make on the island. You can even have a picnic on the
marina at the covered pavilion that shades you from the elements.
If
you’re keen on boating, there’s a marina with floating docks at the
Park. You can have a meal at the snack bar and buy something to take
home from the gift shop.
One of the requirements for boating in the
Park is that you should have the ability to reach the Park’s marina by
boat independently or with a companion as no service is provided by the
Park for this.
As far as possible, your boat should have on
board rest room facilities. In case it doesn’t, you should at least
have the ability to make your way along a 77 foot walkway from your
boat to the Ranger Station to use the facilities there.
Gone Fishing
One
of the favorite past times of the Park is fishing. Here, you can
indulge in your passion for fly fishing all day in quiet surroundings
at designated spots on the Island. You’re expected to be able to
withstand the rigors of the outdoors for as long as you intend to go
fishing.
At the same time, you should be an expert at casting
and reeling your own fishing pole as part of the requirements for
fishing at the Park. As fish are abundant in the Park, you’ll be sure
to catch a bucketful for your journey home.
Caladesi Island
State Park is a great place for a trip outdoors. Rent the sun loungers
and umbrellas on the island so you can sit outside under shade. Take a
walk along the nature trail or spend your time trying to catch fish.
Your experience in this Park will be memorable and exciting!
